Wilting, Wilted Rose

Watch me so I won’t die,

Or someone might see the tears I cry

And the smatterings of crimson on my handkerchief.

Kiss me to freeze time.

Please, trap this moment,

Own it, hold it captive in a jar.

Take it out and caress it like you used to me

When you get lonely.

Call it beautiful.

Keep me safe and alive in your mind’s eye.

Tell our children that I love them.

Tell them that just because all that’s left of me

Is a cold body wrapped in yellowing lace,

That doesn’t mean that I’m not close.

Tell them that I’m watching, waiting, and loving them as they grow.

I don’t blame you if another sleeps by your side.

As long as she’s good to our children and loyal and true to you.

You’re not being unfaithful,

So follow your heart.

Hold our family close, both the old and the new.

Because if there’s one thing I learned in life,

It’s that nothing is certain and that’s not a bad thing.

So, please, my love, my wonder, my knight,

Keep your chin up,

And life will eventually end up right.

Whisper to Me

Whisper to me and tell my some lies.

Don’t walk away

Because I know that’s not all you can take.

You got around to kissing me

Goodbye on the and.

I knew I’d see you again,

But it’s still so sad.

Hold me.  Please hear me out!

I can’t stand if it’s not the same between us.

Please don’t go!

I’m on my knees begging for you to

Come back.

I admitted that I was wrong.

Why won’t you turn around?

I was there through all your sleepless nights and our hopeless fights.

What’s keeping you away this time?

Is it me you’re keeping

At bay

This night?

I couldn’t stand our fights

But I stayed.

You couldn’t breathe that night

That I strayed.

I’m here, I’m back, I’m crying

Laying on the bed that we died in.

Please,

Whisper to me and tell me some lies

About two lovers

Who

              Stayed

                                      Together.

Forever as one.

We could’ve been a united team

But I broke our bond

Of us.

Please, when you walk away

Always remember that you’re not to blame.

And I know you took all you can take.

There was no goodbye kiss.

That was it between us.

Soul is Floundering

Spinning round,

Never touches the ground.

His head is grounded

Yet his soul is floundering.

He wants to touch her himself

And not the beast inside him.

The beast is all she can see anymore,

Even though that isn’t what they wanted it to be.

Rubble

Life’s a battle and hope’s the cure.

But what do I do when I can’t find hope anymore?

This love is poison and anyone can see

We’re clinging on to something that isn’t real.

I can’t deny that there was something strong,

But just because it was strong doesn’t mean that it wasn’t wrong.

Oh, babe, I’ll never forget you even after you’re gone.

We were fireworks setting the sky on aflame.

Without you, I’m confetti on the floor.

Now we’ve left me with my own sorrows and sins.

I can’t even pretend that you’re here to help me carry on.

Instead of tip-toeing through a mine field,

I’m wading through the rubble we left with me.
